  • After your session, give the board a quick rinse with fresh water and let it dry before storing - especially if you’ve been in saltwater.

Store your board in a cool, shaded place, out of direct sunlight. If possible, keep it flat or on its side using proper board racks.

A little care goes a long way - treat it well and your board will stay solid, smooth, and ready for the next paddle.

Performance Metrics

The Oahu feels calm and familiar the moment you step on. It’s the kind of board that disappears beneath you, letting you focus on where you’re going instead of how you’re standing.

The fin setup offers a nice balance - tracks straight without feeling locked in, and turns easily when you need to adjust course.

Stays composed when light texture or wind shows up. It’s not a surf-specific board, but it handles coastal paddling comfortably and predictably.

Its balanced shape handles gentle current and mild flowing water with confidence, making it a great option for mellow river paddles and exploring chill waterways.

Smooth, relaxed, and efficient. The Oahu cruises easily on flat water and feels stable enough for beginners while still being enjoyable and responsive for experienced paddlers.

Flat, forgiving, easy to fall in love with. The 32-inch width and planing hull make this the board you hand a first-timer with total confidence.

The spooned-out nose and wide tail were built for waves. Cutbacks and turns come easy, and the board holds its line even when the water gets textured.

The balanced deck and integrated mount make the Oahu a genuinely good place to start foiling - stable enough to find your feet before you're airborne.

Run the single center fin for straight-line tracking on flat water, or swap to the quad setup - four side fins, no center - for a looser, faster feel in the surf. Same board, two different rides depending on how you rig it.

Bombproof Construction

Bamboo Sandwich

Built using Pau Hana’s Bamboo Sandwich construction, the Oahu blends natural strength with everyday durability. A real bamboo veneer is layered into the board’s structure, adding stiffness, impact resistance, and a smooth, responsive feel on the water.

This construction helps the board hold its shape under pressure while keeping the ride lively and predictable. It’s tough enough for regular launches, beach landings, and day-to-day paddling, without feeling overbuilt or heavy. It’s made to be used - not babied - so you can focus on the water, not the board.

Designed by a Pioneer, Built for Adventure

The Oahu was designed by Todd Caranto, a visionary in the paddleboarding world and the first designer to win Outside Magazine’s ‘Gear of the Year’ award for Stand Up Paddle Boards. Since 2007, Todd has been redefining the sport, creating boards that combine stability, versatility, and timeless style. The Oahu stands as a reflection of Pau Hana’s commitment to quality, artistry, and pushing the boundaries of paddleboard design.

"When I started designing the Oahu, my goal was simple: create a board that’s stable and fun to ride in any condition. Whether it’s gliding across Tenaya Lake in Yosemite at sunrise, catching waves in Waikiki, or paddling in Belize, this board thrives. It’s a design built to inspire stoke and help you connect with nature wherever you are."

Expert Reviews

From Paddling to Foiling

During a trip to Hawaii's North Shore, I had the opportunity to use Pau Hana's 10'0" Oahu Paddle Board for both paddling and foiling at Turtle Bay. The board's versatility truly impressed me. On calm waters, its stability and smooth glide made for a relaxing paddle among the sea turtles. When I transitioned to foiling, the integrated mount made setup easy. We used the Bimini with the outboard motor to generate speed, allowing me to get accustomed to being airborne with the foil. The experience boosted my confidence to try foiling on smaller waves in the area.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Very. At 32 inches wide with a planing hull and 187 liters of volume, the Oahu gives you a wide, forgiving platform that most beginners can stand and balance on within their first few strokes. It's not the widest board in the Pau Hana lineup - that title goes to boards like the Big EZ Angler - but it strikes a real balance: stable enough to build confidence fast, without feeling sluggish once you're ready to push it further.

  • This is the whole point of the board. The classic nose rider shape - spooned-out nose, wide tail - gives it genuine surf maneuverability, and the 5-fin box system lets you swap to a quad setup for a looser, faster feel on waves. Experienced surfers reach for the Oahu on smaller days when a shorter, twitchier board isn't the move. It won't replace a dedicated performance surf SUP for advanced wave riders chasing speed, but for mellow-to-medium days, it holds its own.

  • The Woody is wrapped in a Cherry Burl wood veneer - a heavier, more premium look that a lot of paddlers choose because it doubles as a genuinely good-looking board to have on display. The EPX build skips the veneer for a lighter, glossy finish that's easier to car-top and haul solo. Both share the same Bamboo Sandwich construction underneath, so the ride characteristics are the same - the choice comes down to weight, look, and how much you care about scuffing a wood finish.

  • The Oahu has an integrated foil mount compatible with the Pau Hana Stinger Foil and most standard foils on the market, and its balanced, stable platform makes it a genuinely solid board to learn foiling on. It's not a purpose-built foil board - if foiling becomes your main thing, you'll eventually want something shaped specifically for it - but for trying it out, or foiling casually alongside surfing and cruising, the Oahu handles it well.

  • The Oahu ships with three fins and a 5-fin box system already installed. Run the single center fin for stability and straight-line tracking - ideal for flatwater paddling or beginners still finding their balance. Switch to the quad configuration - four side fins, no center - when you want more speed and looser turning in the surf. Both setups use the fins included in the box, so there's nothing extra to buy to try both configurations.

  • Lakes & Calm Water: This is where it feels easiest - flat, planted, and forgiving, ideal for beginners, yoga, or a relaxed cruise.

Small Surf & Coastal: The nose rider shape comes alive here. Expect smooth takeoffs and maneuverable turns in smaller-to-medium waves.

Foiling: The stable deck and integrated mount make it a solid platform to learn on, though dedicated foil boards will always out-perform it once you're pushing hard.

Tracking & Maneuverability: With the center fin in, it tracks straight and holds a line well. Pull the center fin for the quad setup and it turns looser and faster - built to adapt to how and where you're paddling that day.
